Katie Tinker

Katie Tinker has long held an interest in travel and cultural exchange. She spent her twenties living in and exploring Europe. She initially moved to the south of Ireland, later working for a number of years as an ESL teacher in Prague, Czech Republic. Becoming increasingly curious about the various forces shaping human development around the world, she returned to Canada in 2008 to complete her master’s degree in Development Economics.

Her introduction to the world of immigration law came when she took a position as Legal Case Manager at the Halifax Refugee Clinic. Katie spent six years with this not-for-profit organization, working closely with clients and helping guide them through the process of applying for refugee protection in Canada.

Katie has been Grace Allen’s paralegal since summer 2019 and is enjoying the opportunity to foster a broader knowledge of Canadian immigration law. She is currently also working towards completion of her graduate diploma in immigration and citizenship law through Queen’s University, with the aim of taking on greater responsibility at Grace Allen Immigration Law as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC).

Katie is active with road trips, music, downhill skiing, spending time with family and friends, and loves being by the water.
